A regional bank was looking to upgrade their existing shared storage solution and implement a simplified Disaster Recovery plan. After reviewing several storage options, they decided to leverage IBM N-Series storage and x3650 M2 servers to support a VMware vSphere 4.0 environment upgrade. Once the initial storage implementation and vSphere setup was complete, an existing virtualization environment was migrated to vSphere 4.0. Snap Mirror features were enabled and production servers were replicated to another site. Using VMware Site Recovery Manager, we were able to create a customized DR plan and successfully simulate a recovery in both directions. At the end of the project, the customer was able replicate their vSphere environment on an hourly basis and recover all virtual machines within 20 minutes.
